Peter159 Posted March 1, 2021 at 12:35 AM Report Posted March 1, 2021 at 12:35 AM In my organization there are 4 positions for the executive board. Positions are a 2 year term where 2 positions are voted on each year. President and Treasurer in odd years, Vice president and secretary in even years. This year the election for president and treasurer are up. The President is not interested in running and the Vice President wants to run for President. Does the Vice president have to resign his position to be nominated and run for President? If the Vice President were to lose the election for President could he revert to VP and serve out the rest of his term as Vice President? Quote

He wouldn't "revert" to VP as he never stopped being the VP. He could serve out the rest his term as Vice President. Quote

Not according to the rules in RONR. Nothing in RONR prohibits it. 1 hour ago, Peter159 said: If the Vice President were to lose the election for President could he revert to VP and serve out the rest of his term as Vice President? Yes. Well, if he loses the election, he would never cease being vice President. He would simply continue to be vice president and to serve out the remainder of his term. Quote
Joe Sq Posted May 3, 2021 at 04:41 PM Report Posted May 3, 2021 at 04:41 PM Assuming seats expire on December 31. If the Vice President wins the election for President does the position of Vice President then become vacant on January 1? This would require a special election for Vice President as soon as possible after the first of the year? Quote

We rather here have new questions as new topics here (even if the questions are related) And also not sure what happened your case. If both seats (offices) expires there must be something in the bylaws that made them expire , please quote those sections verbatim . It looks like there should be elections for new officers... Please mak a new topic and include the requested information Quote
Joe Sq Posted May 3, 2021 at 06:26 PM Report Posted May 3, 2021 at 06:26 PM Thank you, I will post all as a new topic. (My situation is the same as this topic, we have two-year terms with the president and vice president on alternate years.) Quote
