Guest Nancy Posted July 14, 2021 at 06:38 PM Report Share Posted July 14, 2021 at 06:38 PM My question is: On small non-profit boards, can the President of the Board make motions or resolutions and then ask for a second?
Richard Brown Posted July 14, 2021 at 07:23 PM Report Share Posted July 14, 2021 at 07:23 PM (edited) Yes, when using the “small board rules“ of RONR. In addition, when using those rules, seconds are not required and the chair can participate just like all of the other members. Those rules are designed for use in all committees and in boards of no more than about a dozen members. Edited to add: see sections 1:24 and 49:21 of RONR (12th Ed.) for the small board rules.
