Executive Director's role on Board Committees

Hello:  Is an executive director automatically part of all Board committees?  (as an ex officio member, by virtue of their office)   

When an executive director is on a Board committee, who determines the kind of role the executive director will play?

Thanks, Hieu. I was fairly certain we had just recently seen that question. It was fully, completely and properly answered in the other thread.
