Guest Aidan Posted October 19, 2021 at 12:54 AM Report Share Posted October 19, 2021 at 12:54 AM Hello... I am the Recording Secretary of a republican town committee in my town. Recently, the Chairman made totally false statements which several members are concerned about. Am I able, as Recording Secretary, to annotate the minutes and report that the statement was false? Alternatively, is there any rule which prevents me from doing so? Please cite RONR. Thank you, Aidan

No, but you shouldn't be recording the statements in the minutes in the first place. See 48:2 "In an ordinary society, the minutes should contain mainly a record of what was done at the meeting, not what was said by the members." Yes. 48:2 again "The minutes must never reflect the secretary’s opinion, favorable or otherwise, on anything said or done."
