Guest Anjy Posted March 8, 2023 at 01:33 AM Report Share Posted March 8, 2023 at 01:33 AM If a nominating committee has a slate of candidates, can one of the candidates (VP candidate) withdraw the night of the election and then be nominated from the floor for the position of President? Thanks!
Gary Novosielski Posted March 8, 2023 at 03:01 AM Report Share Posted March 8, 2023 at 03:01 AM Yes, there's no rule against it in RONR. The VP candidate should notify the nominating committee immediately and the committee should reconvene to try to get a replacement nominee before the election. Waiting till the night of the election is pretty bad form. If this person wished to run for president they should have declined the VP nomination in the first place. It's the sort of thing that would make me question whether they were cut out for either leadership position.
