Guest Jan Johnstone Posted March 15, 2023 at 07:24 PM Report Share Posted March 15, 2023 at 07:24 PM According to our Board bylaws written notices of motion must be given in writing to the Chair at the previous Board meeting, and thus are recorded in the minutes that a notice of motion was received. Prior to the next Board meeting, the mover tells the Chair that she/he wants to withdrawn this Notice of Motion. Does it need to come before the assembly for a formal withdrawal, and if not, how is recorded in our minutes in disposing of this notice of motion. Additionally, unanimous consent is required to grant this request. "After a question has been divided, one or more of the parts can be withdrawn without affecting the other parts. A motion to Reconsider (37), or a previous notice of a proposed motion requiring such notice (10:44–51), cannot be withdrawn after it is too late for renewal, unless unanimous consent is given." Atul Kapur Posted March 16, 2023 at 02:43 AM Report Share Posted March 16, 2023 at 02:43 AM Notice of motion has been given. There is, however, no need that the motion itself be moved at the next meeting. The person who gave notice is not obligated to move the motion. Another member may make the motion and the notice, if not withdrawn as @Josh Martin as describes above, applies to the motion even though it was given by someone else.
