sMargaret Posted July 1, 2023 at 01:29 AM Report Share Posted July 1, 2023 at 01:29 AM Is there a specific reference that people could point me to regarding the right of a new board member to see minutes from a past meeting held in executive session? I've found RONR (12th ed.) 9:26 and 47:36, but need to be able to show that it applies not just to those who were members at the time. thank you! Gary Novosielski Posted July 1, 2023 at 02:28 AM Report Share Posted July 1, 2023 at 02:28 AM Well, 47:36 is quite clear that members may examine reports and record books, including executive sessions. If the rule meant to say record books except those for periods when they were not members, it would have to say so. Since it does not, it means any records. There is no other reasonable interpretation.
Rob Elsman Posted July 1, 2023 at 12:59 PM Report Share Posted July 1, 2023 at 12:59 PM I agree with the interpretation of @Gary Novosielski completely. Were it not correct, the board members would not know if a pending main motion was, in fact, an amendment of something previously adopted.
