Guest Jay Reddy Posted July 25, 2023 at 04:21 AM Report Share Posted July 25, 2023 at 04:21 AM I wonder what is the procedure to follow if board of directors of a not for profit organization wants to video record their board meeting meeting. Thanks in advance
Gary Novosielski Posted July 25, 2023 at 06:08 AM Report Share Posted July 25, 2023 at 06:08 AM Well, they're free to do so. There's no procedure to follow, unless you count a motion "that we video record our board meetings." And you'll probably want to determine what to do with the resulting videos. What's the purpose behind wanting to do this?
Rob Elsman Posted July 25, 2023 at 11:37 AM Report Share Posted July 25, 2023 at 11:37 AM The proper motion is a main motion that can be raised as a Question of Privilege affecting the rights of the assembly. The main motion in a small board does not require a second; is debatable; is amendable; and requires a majority vote for adoption. See RONR (12 ed.) §10 and §19. As to the procedure for handling motions in general, see §4.
