Guest JDStackpole Posted March 31, 2010 at 05:01 PM Report Share Posted March 31, 2010 at 05:01 PM See RONR, p. 562 for the requirements. This presumes your association has adopted RONR as its parliamentary authority."
Guest H.Wm.Mountcastle Posted March 31, 2010 at 05:07 PM Report Share Posted March 31, 2010 at 05:07 PM The short answer is that it will take either a two-thirds vote with previous notice or, without notice, a vote of the majority of the entire membership. And I trust that one of the first things you'll be adding is an article on amendments."
Guest Dee Posted March 31, 2010 at 05:28 PM Report Share Posted March 31, 2010 at 05:28 PM Without notice a vote of the majority "present" at the meeting?"
Guest H.Wm.Mountcastle Posted March 31, 2010 at 05:34 PM Report Share Posted March 31, 2010 at 05:34 PM No, without notice a majority of the entire membership. So if you have 100 members and 50 show up at the meeting, you won't be able to amend your bylaws. If 51 show up at the meeting, they'd all have to vote in favor of the amendment." Guest Beth Posted April 5, 2010 at 06:22 PM Report Share Posted April 5, 2010 at 06:22 PM With the previous notice of a change to the By-Laws, are you talking about two-thirds vote from the Board or the entire membership?"
Guest H.Wm.Mountcastle Posted April 5, 2010 at 06:41 PM Report Share Posted April 5, 2010 at 06:41 PM The board should have nothing to do with amending the bylaws. But check your bylaws in case it does! And a two-thirds vote has nothing to do with the entire membership. A two-thirds vote is the affirmative vote of at least two-thirds of the membe"
