Guest beckerella Posted June 3, 2010 at 09:32 PM Report Share Posted June 3, 2010 at 09:32 PM Scenario:The President of the organization sends an email to the Vice President, stating that he is resigning from office of president. Vice president tells other members about it, but no special meeting of the Board of Directors was held to decide what to do. A few days/weeks go by and the "President" rescinds his resignation via email to the VP, saying he changed his mind. Again no meeting was held to discuss or decide what to do. The organization's constitution and by-laws are vague in this matter and do not state who decides to accept the resignation, the VP or the board. It only says that the VP will assume the duties of Pres in their inability to serve. C & BL calls for 2 regular meetings per year (Oct & June), with provision for special meetings if necessary. June meeting is this weekend. There is some question as to who shall call this meeting to order and if this individual is still the official President. Any ideas on how to proceed with the meeting?Thank you

At the meeting, if the president shows up and performs the duties of the office, there will not be a pending request to accept.
hmtcastle Posted June 3, 2010 at 09:57 PM Report Share Posted June 3, 2010 at 09:57 PM A few days/weeks go by and the "President" rescinds his resignation via email to the VP, saying he changed his mind.Well, he didn't "rescind" his resignation, he withdrew it. Which he's free to do up until the point at which it is accepted (by the person or body authorized to do so).
