Rescind a motion that passed

In March our board passed a motion that was made. Now in the upcoming board meeting one of the board members would like to make a motion to rescind that motion. Can they do that?

It will depend on what the motion was. The required vote to rescind something previously adopted is 2/3 vote without notice, majority vote with notice, or a majority of the entire membership.

However, some motions cannot be rescinded.

"Can they do that?"

Are you seeking an answer to an implied question, like:

• Is there such a motion as "Rescind"? (Yes, there is.)

• Can a member who was not a member of the "March board meeting" make a motion To Rescind? (Yes, he can.)

Q. Why would you think "they' or "he" cannot make a motion to rescind whatever it was which was adopted?

Q. Was the March targeted motion something which cannot be rescinded but only un-done via a new motion?

(That is possible. Not everything which is adopted is rescind-able. You don't un-paint the barn by rescinding the original motion, "That we paint the barn." A new motion would be necessary to un-do a paint job.)

Why do you question that board's act? Or that member's act? - What do you think is irregular?
