Members of the Board

Yes.

Members have the right to attend a meeting and that right is violated if they are not informed of the meeting. However, informing them could be as simple of putting the day, time, and place in the bylaws. Failure to notify all members of a meeting will result in the meeting being null and void.

Agreed, however when certain members including the chair refers to Robert's Rules that they go by and only go by them when it helps them, it's nice to bring to their attention..........

Fair enough.

Then ask them to show you where in RONR it says that all members don't have to be notified of all meetings.

Must board members on sabbatical or medical leave also be notified?

Yes.

Receiving notices of meetings is a RIGHT of membership of that body.

A member of the board remains a member of the board, even if:

• on sabbatical

• on medical leave

• he has not paid his dues

• hospitalized

• he joins the Army, Navy, Marines, or Air Force

• he is overseas

• in transit from Point A to Point B

• he joins the rival organization

• he no longer attends meetings

• he writes nasty letters of complaint

• he is stricken deaf, dumb, and blind

RONR makes no exception to a member's status as a member of a board as to health, occupation, location, affiliation.

The moment such a person is no longer a member of the board is when you don't have to send him notices of meetings of the board.
