Guest Faith Collari Posted June 23, 2010 at 07:58 AM Report Share Posted June 23, 2010 at 07:58 AM Our organization has a 2 year limit on the president of our organization. We would all like to our president stay another year. Can we change our bylaws. If no one comes forward to run as president would our president stay.? If it is until another is elected and nobody runs, the current president stays in office. If it does not have an "until another is elected/takes office" you can only do it by amending your bylaws and must follow all the procedures for amending your bylaws -- no short cuts. Now, if even one person votes for an eligible candidate and that candidate accepts office, that candidate becomes president even though not nominated. Good luck. jstackpo Posted June 23, 2010 at 09:58 AM Report Share Posted June 23, 2010 at 09:58 AM You organization is free to change your bylaws in whatever way you wish.Just follow the bylaw amendment rules found in those same bylaws. Whether the president stays on for another term is up to him/her, I suppose. Presuming he gets re-elected.
