Linda019 Posted June 23, 2010 at 07:53 PM Report Share Posted June 23, 2010 at 07:53 PM We have two members who have started rumors, made accusations about the president and other members of the organization on many different occasions. They just basically have done nothing but be negative in all respects. One member is the VP(the other a board member) but has done nothing during the past 10 months to help. She has refused to answer emails or meet with the president to try and resolve the problems. How do we go about asking them to resign not only their elect position but the organization? If not asking them to resign what are other options to help with this situation?
Chris Harrison Posted June 23, 2010 at 08:02 PM Report Share Posted June 23, 2010 at 08:02 PM You can ask them to resign but I get the impression given your post that such a request will fall onto deaf ears. If that happens you will have to follow whatever procedures your bylaws spell out for removal from office and disciplining members (including expulsion from membership). If the bylaws are silent on the subject you will have to have a trial to remove them from office and membership (unless the bylaws permits the rescission of their election to office). See RONR Chapter XX (RONR pp. 629-642). I would then recommend the bylaws be amended to include disciplinary provisions because holding a Chapter XX trial is a long and drawn out process. Rob Elsman Posted June 23, 2010 at 08:03 PM Report Share Posted June 23, 2010 at 08:03 PM Somebody elected the darlings. Presumably, the electors have gotten what they voted for. Maybe there will be wiser choices at the next election.
