Guest Pat B Posted July 1, 2010 at 12:08 PM Report Share Posted July 1, 2010 at 12:08 PM A motion was made 5 years ago to allow an entity certain privileges. May a clarifying amendment be added years later? An amendment rather than a new motion is politically advantageous.

Guest Pat B Posted July 1, 2010 at 12:32 PM Report Share Posted July 1, 2010 at 12:32 PM Thanks.I had looked at amending something previously adopted (pgs 293-299) and, from that, believe the motion to amend is appropriate. I wasn't sure if there was something somewhere else in the book I missed that might also address it and change the appropriateness. The motion was not reconsidered back in 2005 and an amending motion would not be opposite or nullify the original motion; it's just a clarifying amendment. hmtcastle Posted July 1, 2010 at 12:35 PM Report Share Posted July 1, 2010 at 12:35 PM May a clarifying amendment be added years later? The motion can probably be amended (and note that the term "amendment" refers to any change, not just an "addition").
