Guest Alan Powers Posted July 13, 2010 at 03:12 PM Report Share Posted July 13, 2010 at 03:12 PM I want to move to have debate extended at a meeting and we use RONR. If it gets voted down, how do I move to reconsider, or if someone votes to limit and it gets approved, how would I go about having the chair reconsider it? George Mervosh Posted July 13, 2010 at 03:24 PM Report Share Posted July 13, 2010 at 03:24 PM If either limit or extend are adopted, you can move to reconsider the vote at any time before the order is exhausted. Oh, and the motion to reconsider isn't debatable. If extend gets voted down, forget reconsider and simply make the motion to extend again after debate has progressed some. Guest Alan Powers Posted July 13, 2010 at 03:34 PM Report Share Posted July 13, 2010 at 03:34 PM So even if someone else has the floor, just simply stand and say, "I move to reconsider the limiting/extension of debate for this topic/session"? Guest Alan Powers Posted July 13, 2010 at 04:14 PM Report Share Posted July 13, 2010 at 04:14 PM Another question, although I'm having trouble locating it, I thought I remembered somewhere that RONR states that a person can only move for reconsideration if they voted for the prevailing side. Meaning, if they voted in the affirmative and it was passed, or they voted in the negative and it was denied. Is this so, and if it is, any idea where it's at?
