when to motion

We have a situation where a motion is going to be made to rescind/remove a standing rules that prohibits more that 2 people involved in a breed from serving on the BOD. Becasue of personaities, and friendships involved some would like to have the vote done by written ballot. as per page 398 line 23.

At what point does one make a motion to have a written ballot. Can it be done during discussion after the motion to remove the rule has been made?

Thank you,

Ruth

A Motion Relating to Methods of Voting can be made while the question to be voted on is immediately pending, up until the voting has actually begun. See RONR (10th ed.), p. 273, ll. 25-35, for all the details. Some time during debate, just obtain the floor and move that the vote on the immediately pending question be taken by ballot.
