hmtcastle Posted July 18, 2010 at 01:03 PM Report Share Posted July 18, 2010 at 01:03 PM If a meeting date is set per by-laws and is changed-is it necessary to vote on that change for a one-time occurrence or can the President change is with appropriate notice to the membership?A date set in the bylaws can only be changed by amending the bylaws. However the meeting could (and should) be held as scheduled and adjourned to a later, presumably more convenient, date.
Trina Posted July 18, 2010 at 01:19 PM Report Share Posted July 18, 2010 at 01:19 PM Also, adjourning to a later date is something (one of the few things) that can be done by an inquorate meeting. So, if pretty much everyone is agreeable to changing the date, it's adequate for just a couple of people to show up at the original meeting place and time in order to take care of the formality of adjourning to a later date.On the other hand, if there is disagreement about moving the meeting, if enough members show up to make quorum, they can go right ahead and conduct business at the original meeting time and place (regardless of whether the President, or anyone else, wants to change the date of the meeting).
