For example, the bylaws for my group say officers take their office at the adjournment of the meeting at which they are elected. So the "outgoing" President" continues to preside until adjournment. If you have no such similar stipulation in your governing documents, then it's hand-off time once the "outgoing" president announces the results of the election. So check your bylaws.
