Rob Elsman Posted July 20, 2010 at 08:59 PM Report Share Posted July 20, 2010 at 08:59 PM A subsidiary motion to Amend is voted on before the pending main motion. If the motion to Amend is adopted, the main motion as amended is voted on. If the motion to Amend is rejected, the unamended form of the main motion is voted on. See RONR (10th ed.), p. 125, ll. 14-19.A motion to Lay on the Table requires a second, is neither debatable nor amendable, and requires a majority vote. RONR (10th ed.), §17, pp. 201ff.A motion for the Previous Question requires a second, is neither debatable nor amendable, and requires a two-thirds vote. RONR (10th ed.), §16, pp. 189ff.
