Guest Mandy Posted July 27, 2010 at 10:24 PM Report Share Posted July 27, 2010 at 10:24 PM Our Resident's Forum is always at the end of the Monthly Condo Board meeting. The items discussed are never listed in the meeting minutes. Should they be?And, the Condo Assoc Board President has the habit of adjourning meetings during the Resident's Forum while items are being discussed. Can this be done?Thank you. STA Posted July 27, 2010 at 10:39 PM Report Share Posted July 27, 2010 at 10:39 PM If you are being literal when you call it the "Monthly Condo Board meeting" then only Board members have any real rights, no matter what privileges they may extend to other condo residents. To put it bluntly, they may let you talk but they don't have to listen. And once the official Board business is complete the Board may adjourn. [That's according to Robert, though your rules may vary.]If enough of the residents find this behavior unbearably rude, get elected to the Board and bring back basic civility. Larry Cisar Posted July 28, 2010 at 03:46 AM Report Share Posted July 28, 2010 at 03:46 AM As to adjournment, if there is a scheduled time for adjournment and that time arrives, the chair can adjourn the meeting. If the chair is just adjourning the meeting when he wants to, the other board members should raise a point of order. In the second case, they can also continue the meeting even though the chair leaves.
