Guest maryf Posted August 2, 2010 at 08:05 PM Report Share Posted August 2, 2010 at 08:05 PM In general are nonprofit board meetings open to the public, specifically if held in a public place?
Rob Elsman Posted August 2, 2010 at 08:07 PM Report Share Posted August 2, 2010 at 08:07 PM No rule in RONR requires an assembly to meet in open session. However, you might check with an attorney to see if meetings held in public buildings in your location are required to be open to the public by law. If they cite "the law" or "Robert's Rules", ask for the reference to the section of code or the page and lines in RONR.-Bob
Rev Ed Posted August 3, 2010 at 01:52 AM Report Share Posted August 3, 2010 at 01:52 AM I don't have my copy of RONR out at the moment, but as I recall RONR does mention that a Board will normally meet in Executive Session - this is of course barring any statute, by-law, or rule that may state something differently.
