Board election

We are a small not for profit organization. We are incorporated. The Board consists of President and Directors (5). In the past for the AGM we have requested that anyone wishing to run for the Board to let the Secretary know. My question is "Do the folks running for office have to be nominated and seconded at the AGM?"

Thanks

Do the folks running for office have to be nominated and seconded at the AGM?

No.

It is even looser than that!

Seconds are not a requirement for nominations, under Robert's Rules of Order.

Nominations are not a requirement for an election.

• Voters are free to write in names, even for people never nominated.

• Ballots need not list any names at all. A blank sheet is perfectly acceptable as a form of ballot.

• Nominations, if closed, can be re-opened via a motion so, by majority vote.

CAN A CLUBS BY LAWS BE SUSPENDED A FEW MEMBERS OF OUR CLUB WANTS TO SUSPEND THE BY LAWS FOR ONE YEAR IN ORDER TO RE WRITE THEM IS THIS ALLOWED

Frank - thanks for your question, and Welcome to the Forum.

However..... please post your question as a new question, rather than "piggy-backing" on this existing question. Answers to yours will get mixed in with the original question's answers and it will get messy, so if you please..... and if you could use a little teensy bit of punctuation, it could help.

Also, if you would, please turn off your CAPS LOCK KEY. Typing in all caps is hard to read, and in the internet world is sort of like SHOUTING!! :)

Thanks, and see you at your next posting.

David
