Josh Martin Posted August 15, 2010 at 05:23 PM Report Share Posted August 15, 2010 at 05:23 PM If a Motion was tabled until the next meeting, is the Motion automatically addressed under old business, or do you need a new motion to address the old motion? If a motion was postponed (not tabled) until the next meeting, the motion automatically comes up under Unfinished Business (not Old Business). The motion to Lay on the Table is used to set a motion aside temporarily so that a more pressing matter may be addressed. It is frequently misused. (See FAQ #12) It is possible, however, that a motion may remain on the table until the next session, provided it is within a quarterly interval. In such a case, a motion to Take from the Table must be made to address the motion.
