Guest Donald Joralemon Posted August 16, 2010 at 01:30 PM Report Share Posted August 16, 2010 at 01:30 PM I understand the process of motions brought to an assembly by elected committees, but can a voting member introduce a motion on his/her own (without it having been included on the meeting agenda)? Further, RONR makes no requirement that an agenda be used at all. Also, take a look at FAQ#14, in case that's relevant to your question:http://www.robertsrules.com/faq.html#
Guest Donald Joralemon Posted August 16, 2010 at 02:04 PM Report Share Posted August 16, 2010 at 02:04 PM That helps. So, how does a member introduce a motion from the floor? Timing, second required?
hmtcastle Posted August 16, 2010 at 02:07 PM Report Share Posted August 16, 2010 at 02:07 PM So, how does a member introduce a motion from the floor? Timing, second required?Raise your hand (or stand up) and get recognized by the chair. The timing, and whether a second is required, depends on the type of motion.
