Guest Dave Posted August 19, 2010 at 02:32 AM Report Share Posted August 19, 2010 at 02:32 AM a person accepts the office of president again for the 3rd time, then resigns 3 months later when an issue comes up that affects him. (are pres. doesn't get a vote unless there is a tie, but we have a position on the board for a past president who has the right to vote, our last past president is deceased.) My question is,' does he become the past president right away, or does he have to wait till the end of this term to be it?
Larry Cisar Posted August 19, 2010 at 02:35 AM Report Share Posted August 19, 2010 at 02:35 AM If the position is for the Immediate Past President, then he gets it right away as he is the Immediate Past President.

Does he become the past president right away, or does he have to wait till the end of this term to be it?If you are looking for an answer based on Robert's Rules of Order Newly Revised (RONR Tenth Edition, 2000), then, sad to report, no answer is possible. You won't find the term "past president" or "immediate past _____ (anything)" in RONR.You are left with a dictionary as your recourse. And maybe a book of English grammar/syntax.
