Continuing Quorum

A quorun is present when a motion is made and seconded (quorun requirement is majority of membership. Memebership numbers 20, 11 are present). One of the members present has a potential conflict of interest, elects to abstain from the vote and leaves the room so the other members will not be potentially uncomfortable casting their vote. The question is does a quorum still exist or does the temporary absence of the member with a potential conflict of interest leaving the room temporarily, break the quorum? The member in question returns after the unanamous affirmative vote and participates in the remainder of the meeting. Thanx!

Whenever the number of members required to be present for the quorum to exist is not met, the quorum does not exist. Yes it broke the quorum, and until he returned or some other member mooched in, no actions were valid. You should have trussed him, stuffed your spare marijuana in his ears, and dumped him behind some chairs until your delicate issues were resolved. ONce he strolled back in, your quorum resumed its existence.

P. S. Be sure to wash that marijuana first. Yuk.

And I would think afterward as well.
