hmtcastle Posted August 23, 2010 at 01:57 PM Report Share Posted August 23, 2010 at 01:57 PM Do minutes have to be taken in a closed executive session meeting? If so are they then filed and read at the following closed session meeting?Minutes are taken as usual and are approved in executive session at the next regular meeting (though the entire meeting at which they're approved need not be held in executive session). When do items in a closed session move into the regular body of minutes? While some here think the minutes of meetings (or portions thereof) should be kept in a separate minutes book, others think they should be included in the regular minutes book. I suppose each organization can make that decision for itself though, in either case, the minutes wouldn't "move" from one place to another. Josh Martin Posted August 24, 2010 at 06:47 AM Report Share Posted August 24, 2010 at 06:47 AM When do items in a closed session move into the regular body of minutes? There is no time at which secrecy would be automatically lifted regarding the minutes, if that's what you're suggesting. The secrecy imposed upon executive session has no expiration date, and remains in effect unless the assembly chooses to lift secrecy on some or all of the proceedings of the executive session. Where the minutes are physically kept is more of a practical consideration than a parliamentary one.
