grammaconnie Posted August 26, 2010 at 12:43 PM Report Share Posted August 26, 2010 at 12:43 PM Our association is rewriting its bylaws. The existing bylaws do not require the treasurer or the secretry to be members of the board. Some people want to require them to be board members. I'm concerned as in the past the people elected to the board did not have any financial or accounting skills. Therefore, the treasurer did not have the skills necessary to do the job he was elected to fill.Is there anything in Robert's Rules that requires the treasurer to be a member of the board? If the treasurer does not need to be a member, is there anything that would prohibit him from attending executive sessions and special meetings of the board?
