Presidents Responsibilities

We have a newly elected president who believes that he is now the "boss" of all of the Board Members. When I told him that I am the duly elected treasurer and represented the membership not specifically him it didn't go very well.

The organization is a national club that holds only one Board meeting a year. There are 20 voting members on the Board, but the president does not cast a vote unless there is a tie, number 21.

The question we have is, Are there a recommended set of responsibilities for a new president, who has no experience in being the president of an organization that has been established for 40 years and has been running pretty smoothly until now? If things don’t change this will be a long four years.

The only parliamentary duty of the President is to preside over meetings. Any administrative duties would be provided for in the Bylaws or other rules of your organization.
