Chris Harrison Posted September 9, 2010 at 03:49 PM Report Share Posted September 9, 2010 at 03:49 PM Such a procedure could raise questions. However, do your bylaws specifically permit mail in voting? If they don't you can't do it (RONR pp. 408-409).
Kim Goldsworthy Posted September 9, 2010 at 03:50 PM Report Share Posted September 9, 2010 at 03:50 PM Our current ... secretary is running for re-election. Our normal procedure is to have the election ballots sent back in to the secretary. Should we change the procedure in this instance?"Should"?Yes. It is bad practice to have ballots go to a single, self-interested candidate, who is not being monitored. The temptation to alter the ballots, or to "lose" certain marked ballots, is a temptation that ought not be pushed on a single candidate."After all, nobody's human."-Trixie Zerbo, from the 2000 film "Trixie" "Can"?I don't know.Your rules may not be suspendable. Your hands might be tied. No one has read your customized process in your bylaws, so no one can comment on its flexibility or lack thereof.
