Draft Minutes

Can a member request to see the Secretary's draft minutes before they are presented at the next meeting?

The secretary is under no obligation to show the draft minutes to anyone prior to submitting them for approval at the next regular meeting.

That said, many organization's have a policy of distributing the draft minutes to all members, in the hope that this will expedite their approval.

Although RONR even mentions sending out a draft copy of the Minutes. RONR page 457 lines 9-19. The rationale is that it assists with speeding up a meeting - by sending out the Minutes in advance, the members of the group are assumed to have read the Minutes and so the Secretary is not required to read the Minutes at the meeting.

Unless requested, of course.
