hmtcastle Posted September 13, 2010 at 02:34 PM Report Share Posted September 13, 2010 at 02:34 PM May I make a motion to accept the minutes of a meeting even though I was not present at the meeting?Yes but . . . There's no need for the motion at all and minutes are approved, not accepted. Once any corrections have been made, the chair can simply state that the minutes are approved (or approved as corrected). No motion and no vote. And you're also free to suggest corrections even if you were absent at the meeting in question. For example, the draft minutes may have recorded that you made a motion and you'd be the one to know you couldn't have since you weren't there. The fundamental principle is that your rights as a member don't depend on your presence or absence at past (or future) meetings.
