Officers voted in

ok so we have 5 officers: Pres., Vice Pres., Secretary, Corresponding Secretary, and Treasure. Then we have 5 Members at Large or Board members. There were a few people running two positions in case they didnt get voted for one they then may get the other. Now we had two people run for Corresponding Secretary one of them won both vice president and Corresponding Secretary. Question: Can one person hold two Officer Positions? or does it have to go to the other person running even tho they did not get voted in? or does it go to the next person with the most votes for the board?

The book [RONR p. 425, l. 30] says:

Although, strictly speaking, there is no prohibition against a person's holding more than one office, it is understood in most societies that a member can serve in only one such capacity at a time, and sometimes the bylaws so provide.

So you need to answer whether your bylaws provide for that, or can be interpreted to mean that, and if not, whether it is understood in your society that a person can't have two offices. And if it's not clearly understood, you can move, debate, and decide by a majority vote just how to interpret whatever the bylaws do say.

If, as is usually the case, holding two offices is not allowed, the person elected to more than one can choose which one to accept.

But then you're going to need to hold another election for the unaccepted office(s), because whoever came in second in that contest could not possibly have had a majority of the vote.

Oh, and if by some fluke you end up with one person holding two positions, remember it's still one person one vote. They don't get to cast a vote as VP and another as Secretary. They just get twice the work.

Awesome! No, it does not say in the bylaws that one person can not hold two positions nor does it say they can - they can run for more then one in Nominations so just because this has never happened before when writing the bylaws it had to be foreseen. Your answer had clarified things greatly, thank you.
