Guest David Posted September 19, 2010 at 10:12 PM Report Share Posted September 19, 2010 at 10:12 PM Does the AGM count as one of the two general membership meetings specified in a Society's by-laws that should be held every year? Or does the Society have to hold two general membership meetings other than the AGM?Thanks,David

So if you met monthly, the annual meeting would be one of the monthly meetings.
Kim Goldsworthy Posted September 19, 2010 at 11:53 PM Report Share Posted September 19, 2010 at 11:53 PM Does the AGM count as one of the two general membership meetings specified in a Society's by-laws that should be held every year?Or does the Society have to hold two general membership meetings other than the AGM?The usual arrangement is that an organization's meetings are fixed as monthly or quarterly, and one of THOSE meetings is the meeting which is designated as the annual meeting. - That is, the meeting where elections are held, and where annual reports are presented, etc.But the key is the wording of your bylaws, where the schedule is specified. It might be that YOUR arrangement is not a match for the common arrangement.Read! Beware!
