Guest iwavva Posted September 20, 2010 at 03:46 AM Report Share Posted September 20, 2010 at 03:46 AM My organization immediately makes a motion to destroy the ballots after our new officers have been declared by the chair. Some members are upset at this and want to know if there is a time frame for keeping these ballots. RR states ballots can be ordered to be destroyed or to be filed for a certain length of time with the secretary. What is the safest and best way to handle this? Guest JDStackpole Posted September 20, 2010 at 04:09 AM Report Share Posted September 20, 2010 at 04:09 AM When the motion to destroy the ballots is made, move to amend it by inserting "in one month's time" (or some other time interval more to your liking). If a majority agree with you that the amendment is a good idea, then they won't be "upset" any more.

The time frame is up to you (a majority vote).2. The safest and best way is, your present way. - Destroy the ballots immediately. Do not store them at all. Avoid the headaches of (a.) taint; (b.) recount. Don't store up potential problems.
