There may or may not be any difference other than the one additional word.

An organization may call its executive board whatever name it wishes, or it may have two different boards which it calls by different names.

Some larger organizations may have both a board of directors (or board of trustees, etc.) and a smaller executive committee (which RONR describes as a "board within a board"). As Mr. Honemann suggested, what your board is called is determined by your bylaws.
