Guest guest_marie Posted September 25, 2010 at 12:57 AM Report Share Posted September 25, 2010 at 12:57 AM There not enough suitable/eligible candidates available to fill offices. Several members are eligible but are not considered suitable (due to performance in current officer positions). Several members are considered suitable but ineligible due to lack of qualifications as stated in bylaws (length of membership). There are no provisions in bylaws for this situation. What are the options available to the nominating committee?

What are the options available to the nominating committee? The nominating committee can only do the best it can. After it submits its report (even if incomplete), nominations from the floor are accepted. Write-in votes (for those not nominated) are also accepted. Who knows, someone whom the committee thought was unsuitable may very well get elected. That's democracy.

When nominations from the floor are accepted, could nominations for ineligible members be accepted? Same question for write-in votes if an ineligible member was to win.Is there any way that the Board of Trustees can make an exception regarding eligibility?
