Amending a Motion

Can a motion that was voted on but results not stated, be corrected by adopting a motion to Amend?

"Not stated"?

What do you mean by that?

(a.) The chair conducts a voice vote on a pending question; the chair prompts for the affirmative vote and for the negative vote; then - WHAM! - you ask if you can amend this motion RIGHT NOW, before the chair announces the result of a vote. (You don't know if the motion was adopted or rejected, yet, because you wish to amend the motion literally "before results are stated" to the members present in this meeting.)

(b.) The vote is conducted, and either the affirmative vote prevails or the negative vote prevails; later IN THAT SAME MEETING, a member wishes to alter the wording of the adopted motion (or the defeated motion).

If the motion was defeated it can be "renewed" (made again, by any member, as if it had never been made).

If the motion was adopted it can often be amended.

Although, with Mr. Goldsworthy, I'm not sure what you mean when you say that the results were not stated. If you mean that the chair stated that the motion was adopted (or lost) but did not give the vote count, that's not such a big deal (though you might want to get a new chair).

I didn't see any indication that the vote was other than a voice vote, which is quite typical for the bulk of business transacted at most meetings. No vote count would be available or needed, making this an extremely small deal indeed.

The chair's job should be safe.
