We're having an election by mail in ballots. Our bylaws do not mention anything about write in votes, but they do require for nominations to be made during a specific period (now over)and the nominations must be made in writing with 2 members' signatures.

Are write in votes accepted?

RONR says write-in votes are always permitted. We can't tell you if your rules trump that.

Write in votes are accepted according to RONR, unless your bylaws specifically say they're not.

The nomination process is one thing, but voting is another. A write-in vote is, by definition, a vote for someone who was never nominated. But there's nothing wrong with that.
