Board member resignation

A board member will be submitting her resignation at our next scheduled meeting. Our organization meets quarterly, so is it acceptable to accept the resignation at the November meeting, make nominations for replacement and vote in the same meeting or does the voting have to take place at the next quarterly meeting?

If the board has the power to appoint a replacement, it can do so at the same meeting at which the resignation is accepted. If an election is required, previous notice is also required.

If an officer writes a letter of resignation and dates the letter and gives it to another officer AFTER a meeting of the same night, the letter legal if the officer decides to recend her letter BEFORE the next meeting?

The resignation does not become effective until it is accepted. If the appointing power is an assembly, the officer is free to withdraw the resignation at anytime before it is placed before that assembly.
