Can they go just because they want to once a quarter without a topic?Just to be clear, executive session refers to a meeting or portion of a meeting in which the proceedings are secret. Is this what you had in mind? An assembly can go into executive session at any time that a majority so decides.

The Office of Attorney General says no but we do go by Robert's Rules so wanted to make sure.Thank you.

I would think you could find one in the Attorney General's office.

The details will vary from state to state, but "just to see" is not gonna be one of them. But since state law will supersede RONR, it's probably wise to listen to the A.G.
