Guest diane Posted October 22, 2010 at 12:55 AM Report Share Posted October 22, 2010 at 12:55 AM We have to update our bylaws and constituiton. Are we asking the membership to approve the update or acceptance? The officers have updated the bylaws and constitution so they are in compliance. We have sent the updated to membership. Tim Wynn Posted October 22, 2010 at 01:12 AM Report Share Posted October 22, 2010 at 01:12 AM The officers have updated the bylaws and constitution so they are in compliance. They have probably only created a draft, which means no change has been made to the bylaws and constitution. We have sent the updated to membership.Once again, this is probably just a draft.Do we have to the updated version voted on?Usually, the general membership would be have the authority to amend the bylaws, not the officers. The bylaws and constitution should outline how they are to be amended, and any amendment can only take place in accordance with those provisions. Is it an acceptance or approval?Amendment is done through the adoption of a motion to Amend Something Previously Adopted.
