Chris Harrison Posted December 3, 2010 at 02:51 PM Report Share Posted December 3, 2010 at 02:51 PM If our board goes into closed meeting session after a regular meeting do I reflect the disscussion and outcome on our regular meeting min or is that a seprate not for public meeting min.Under RONR the public has no right to even attend the meetings let alone get copies of the minutes and the minutes are to only reflect what was done at the meeting and the minutes would reflect the whole meeting (open and executive session). If your organization is governed by different rules you will have to look to them for your answers.
jstackpo Posted December 3, 2010 at 02:58 PM Report Share Posted December 3, 2010 at 02:58 PM However, the minutes of what was transacted during the "Executive Session" (i.e., secret) portion of the meeting should be kept separate (and unavailable to any but the members) from the open meeting minutes. jstackpo Posted December 3, 2010 at 03:04 PM Report Share Posted December 3, 2010 at 03:04 PM My previous note sort of assumes that Bill C's "closed" meetings are equivalent to RONR's Executive Session: RONR, p. 92.
hmtcastle Posted December 3, 2010 at 03:07 PM Report Share Posted December 3, 2010 at 03:07 PM If our board goes into closed meeting session after a regular meeting . . . Note, too, that the board would typically go into executive session during, not after, the meeting. In fact, as RONR notes, many boards meet exclusively in executive session, from the beginning of the meeting until it's adjourned.
