hknuttel Posted December 5, 2010 at 06:14 AM Report Share Posted December 5, 2010 at 06:14 AM We will have our election of officers in a few weeks and know that there will be one office with more than 1 candidate. Should be have a ballot with all the names on it or just give out a piece of paper so people can write in the name of their favorite candidate and then elect the rest of the slate by acclimation? Should be have a ballot with all the names on it or just give out a piece of paper so people can write in the name of their favorite candidate and then elect the rest of the slate by acclimation?Check your bylaws to make sure you can elect by acclamation. If your bylaws say you must use a ballot, then there's no alternate way. If your bylaws say nothing, or have an exception when there is only one candidate, then you are free to do so.But whenever you are using ballots, there is nothing wrong with using blank paper for your ballots. The only thing you need to be sure of is that each person can only turn in one. And you need to be sensitive to the fact that people might misspell names when writing them in. But that's okay, as long as you can tell whom they intended to vote for, the vote gets counted.
