Guest Jimmie Posted December 5, 2010 at 07:59 AM Report Share Posted December 5, 2010 at 07:59 AM My organization has a procedure in place for discipline/removal of elected officers, but only for elected officers. There is nothing in the standing rules to cover such a process for appointed officers. My organization operates on formal and lengthy standing rules instead of a formal constitution/bylaws. What is the default method for removal of appointed officers in such a situation? To complicate matters slightly, no term length for appointed officers is stated in the rules. Officers are merely appointed by the president, with some appointments confirmed by the board. Finally, would the fact that an appointed officer has been appointed to serve on multiple committees/positions complicate matters during a disciplinary proceeding? Would the removal from each position need to be treated separately through a separate hearing, etc.?

If the president can appoint, the president can remove. If the president can appoint and the board needs to confirm, until the board confirms the new appointment, the old one is in.As for disciplinary issues, your organization needs to work out what they want to do for multiple cases and clarify things.
