Gary Novosielski Posted December 16, 2010 at 12:38 AM Report Share Posted December 16, 2010 at 12:38 AM Can minutes of a meeting be approved by email and is a simple majority enough to approve? No business can be transacted by e-mail, unless there are provisions for doing so in your bylaws. If there are, then you need to follow the rules there, because there are none in RONR that would cover this. (Well, except the one that says no business can be transacted by e-mail unless there are provisions for doing so in your bylaws.)
Josh Martin Posted December 16, 2010 at 04:25 AM Report Share Posted December 16, 2010 at 04:25 AM Can minutes of a meeting be approved by email and is a simple majority enough to approve? As for the second part of your question, the final approval of the minutes should not be put to a vote. After any corrections have been handled, the chair simply declares the minutes approved.

After any corrections have been handled, the chair simply declares the minutes approved. But if, as sometimes happens, there is not unanimous consent on just what the corrections should be, then a vote may be necessary. If it is, then a majority is enough to carry.
