jstackpo Posted December 16, 2010 at 11:24 PM Report Share Posted December 16, 2010 at 11:24 PM Well, that may be a bit misleading...There are a fair number (15 or so by my count) of (parliamentary) situations where just one objection is sufficient to block some action, event, or the like. But, agreed, there isn't any situation in RONR where all must be in favor to adopt a proposal. It only requires that all who vote vote the same way. So, 1-0, 0-1, unanimous votes.Though I suspect that's not what Ms. t had in mind.
Tim Wynn Posted December 17, 2010 at 12:25 AM Report Share Posted December 17, 2010 at 12:25 AM when is a unanimous vote needed?Roughly as often as such a vague question can be sufficiently answered.
Josh Martin Posted December 17, 2010 at 12:56 AM Report Share Posted December 17, 2010 at 12:56 AM when is a unanimous vote needed? There is never a situation where a "unanimous vote" is required by RONR (and the text does not even define the term), however, there are several instances in which unanimous consent is required, and a single member's objection will derail the proposed action. These situations are varied and scattered throughout the text, so it would be very time-consuming to provide a complete list. It would likely be easier if you asked what particular situation you are concerned about, as this question presumably arises because someone has claimed that a particular issue requires a unanimous vote.
