Josh Martin Posted January 11, 2011 at 11:48 PM Report Share Posted January 11, 2011 at 11:48 PM Do these "subjects" that people talk about informally appear on the agenda? Does the agenda list only motions or does it include topics of "discussion,"as in "conversation?" Is there any stricture on what sort of subjects you can put on the agenda? Do they have to be "business" related, as in action-oriented?The average assembly has no need for an agenda whatsoever and will do just fine with the standard order of business in RONR. Guest loose Posted January 12, 2011 at 01:54 AM Report Share Posted January 12, 2011 at 01:54 AM I would think everyone should ignore any posts by "loose". What a thing to say. What have I done wrong?
Guest loose Posted January 12, 2011 at 02:02 AM Report Share Posted January 12, 2011 at 02:02 AM Well, the Parliamentary Police aren't going to haul you away if you decide to disregard the rules and chit-chat away your meeting time. But you might run the risk of inciting members to raise Points of Order when you stray from the tried'n'true. If you want to spend some time talking about whatall happened at the fundraiser last weekend, it might be better to have a coffee hour after the (business only) meeting, or some other informal gathering. This is very helpful. Thank you.
Guest loose Posted January 12, 2011 at 02:11 AM Report Share Posted January 12, 2011 at 02:11 AM Or maybe the committee/body that organized the fundraiser might have a report ready for the meeting. That might help.We are a far-flung organization with many sites and having trouble corralling all the information in order to make decisions. Sounds like reports from each site might alleviate the meeting mess. Thank you.
