Gary Novosielski Posted December 19, 2010 at 04:02 PM Report Share Posted December 19, 2010 at 04:02 PM If a president resigns, is he still a member of the boardThat depends on your bylaws, how your board is structured, how one becomes president, how one becomes a board member, and who gets to vote people into each of these offices. If, for example, the general membership elects members to the board, but the board then chooses its officers from among its own number, the president could resign as president, but retain his seat on the board. If, however, the membership votes for president and that office carries with it membership on (and presumably chairmanship of) the board, then resigning as president would be a resignation from the board as well.Other situations are possible. Considering the variability of bylaws, they could be said to be endless.
